NEW YORK, NY – (August 18. 2023) The historic Flatiron District welcomed its first legal cannabis dispensary, Stoops NYC, in July 2024.
Founder Chris Kuilan shared his thoughts on the significance of bringing legal cannabis to one of Manhattan’s most storied neighborhoods and what it means for the community.
Why Flatiron?
Flatiron’s central location made it the perfect home for Stoops.
The shop sits in the heart of the neighborhood, across from one of the city’s oldest historic skyscrapers – the Flatiron Building – and within walking distance of some of Manhattan’s most iconic destinations, including Madison Square Park, the Empire State Building, and Union Square.
Surrounded by neighborhoods like NoMad, Greenwich Village, Chelsea, Gramercy, and Kips Bay, Flatiron offers a little of everything – historic landmarks, thriving nightlife, fine dining, the first-ever Shake Shack, art galleries, museums, boutiques, and now legal cannabis. “It’s a melting pot, just like New York,” said Kuilan. “It’s a neighborhood where professionals, creatives, locals, and visitors all cross paths.”

Stoops carries a lineup of New York’s favorite cannabis brands, ranging from well-known names to boutique growers.
“I go to cannabis farmer’s markets to see what’s out there and what people love,” said Kuilan. “I’ve built relationships in the industry, so I tend to know what’s hot and what people want to access. We carry favorites like Jaunty, Camino Gummies, Ruby Farms, and I’m always looking for unique products people can’t find everywhere else.”
